Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) materials are used for making crowns and veneers , as they can withstand high thermal conditions , which is most important as they can break during manufacturing or usage without that property. These are used to cover deceased front teeth and crowns and are usually coated with porcelain so as to get the right shade and translucency.

Nowadays using implants are also very common, if you lose teeth you have an alternative, you can just replace it with dental implants made of PFM. They are fixed permanently on the place of the lost tooth. It is made in such a way that it easily bonds with the bone. Orthodontic brackets are yet other popular items in the markets, which again makes use of ceramics.
